Hi! I'm Jena.

 

I started UnWinded as a COVID-19 quarantine project during June 2020, after I graduated from high school. My first work was an investigative journalistic piece about the unacknowledged sexual violence and sexual harassment that had been happening at my high school— one of the victims had contacted me to write this story, and I ended up finding so many more students and alumni who wanted to break their silence on this grave issue. In that moment, I saw that there's so much power in giving a voice to the voiceless, to the stories untold. From there, I continued to write more UnWinded investigative journalistic pieces, but also personal essays and development research papers as well.

I am a lifelong writer, with the desire to bring injustices, ideas, and philosophies to light. So, why don't we unwind them?
